Our dept. is organizing National Workshop on "Official Statistics in National Development" (January 17-19,2011). This workshop aims to provide informative and guiding lectures and discussions on Indian Statistical System and Statistical Offices at the center such as: Ministry of Planning, Central Statistical Organization (CSO), National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) etc and their roles in national development. More focus will be given on practical issues related with Official Statistics and developing interaction between students/teachers of Statistics with working statisticians/personnel in statistical services at national level.
PROPOSED ACTIVITIES IN THE WORKSHOP:
• Invited talks of eminent personalities.
• Case studies presentation.
• Poster presentation competition of T.Y.B.Sc.(Statistics) students.
• Research papers presentation.
• Seminar and mini project presentation competition of M.Sc.(Statistics) students.
Speakers and students are invited for the participation and/or for the above mentioned presentations associated with Official Statistics related to Human Development, Education, Gender Analysis, Environment, Price, Poverty, Labor, Employment, National Income, Agriculture, Rural Development, Industry, Productivity, Water Resources, Energy Resources, Health, Power, Urbanization and Population etc and their roles in nation’s development.
